Programmer Analyst.

JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining software. These projects may include (but are not limited to): developing database driven web pages, utilizing AOL server with TCL and Oracle.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Consults with Customer to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives.
  • Read manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn ways to develop programs that meet user requirements.
  • Formulates plan, outlining steps required to develop program and submits plan to Customer for approval.
  • Adheres to good user-interface design principles by considering usability and user expectations.
  • Designs and develops computer programs to perform actions specified in project design.
  • Works with other programmers on larger development projects.
  • Tests program to ensure that it follows the design specification.
  • Takes active role in debugging the program and fixing the problems.
  • Replaces, deletes, or modifies codes to correct errors.
  • Works with users and QA department to find and fix programming errors.
  • Follows company standards for development procedures.
  • Works with technical writer to write user manual to describe operating procedures.
  • Assist in writing documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
  • Monitors performance of program after implementation.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE: One to two years related experience and/or training with C++/Java or other third generation language; or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to two years related experience working with SQL database design and/or maintenance. Knowledge of web design with HTML. Solaris / Linux experience a plus.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

PROGRAMMING SKILLS: TCL, HTML, JavaScript, Linux/Solaris shell scripting, C++, Java

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and Customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
